Uummannaq Music

Uummannaq Music is founded in 1997 by Jonna Faroe and the head of Uummannaq Children's Home Ann Andreasen.

Music therapy has since then been an important part of the pedagogical work at the Children's Home.

Jonna Faroe is still the director of Uummannaq Music.

Conductor and Composer Joel Spiegelman was appointed 'Cultural Fellow Member' in 2012 for his work for Uummannaq Music.

Ron Alvarez and Sofia Carolina Hernandez Mejia from Venezuela are teachers at Uummannaq Music and uses "El Sistema" as the teaching model.

El Sistema is a tested model of how a music program can both create great musicians and dramatically change the life trajectory of a nation’s neediest kids.

René Kristensen is head of PR and communication at Uummannaq Music.
